Plastic Tank Fittings
Plastic tank fittings are offered in a variety of sizes and styles. Bulkhead fittings are poly or stainless with a few options having a self aligning style center. Easy to install, these plastic tank fittings require a hole to be cut, insert the fitting and thread the nut on the outside of the tank. Rule of thumb is to hand tighten the fitting as much as possible and then use only a quarter turn with a wrench at that point. If you over tighten the fitting this can cause the gasket to crimp leading to possible leakage. 99.9% of the time a leaking fitting has been over tightened. Should this occur simply back off the nut and allow the gasket to reset before giving it another go.
Epdm and Santoprene are most common gaskets used on water tanks. We recommend upgrading to a Viton gasket if storing solvents or petroleum agents.
